Move over, hedgehog
Platform games were introduced to speed by Sega's Sonic, but while he's away from the 2D arena, Tom Sennet and Matt Thorson have introduced RunMan: Race Around the World.
Runman is a little yellow dude who's only passion is running as fast as possible, and in RunMan: Race Around the World he'll do exactly that. Through 6 worlds and over 35 levels you'll meet some bizarre monsters and obstacles while achieving over the top velocities.
With crayon-like 'crude' (in the developer's words) graphics, great old music that has lapsed into the public domain and a completely silly story, RunMan: Race Around the World is irreverent and tons of fun. The controls are really simple, but the way RunMan interacts with the environment adds layers of complexity to the levels. RunMan is indestructible, but as everything is timed you'll want to find the fastest way through all the mayhem to record a top time.
RunMan: Race Around the World can be played in windowed or full screen mode, you can save 'ghosts' of good times, so you can race yourself and the whole soundtrack in available in the OGGs folder when you unzip the game. Visit the game's homepage and you can find other people's ghosts too.
If you like platform games and you like fun, check out RunMan: Race Around the World, it's completely fantastic!

Faster than fast, quicker than quick, I am... Runman?.
For as strange as it may sound, this game with terrible graphics and physics is easily one of the best user games that I have ever played. With no gimicks or large promotions on television, this is simply what a game is about, fun.Who cares about graphics, buttery smooth physics and amazing concept when you can play a game like Runman, which allows anyone to easily pick it up and have some fun.Step aside Sonic, because even with your mythical blast processing, Runman could easily beat you in a footrace. I mean, in the opening cutscene he scared off the competition for the race around the world just by showing up, and he certainly shows us why. He's fast, physically indestructable and very fun to control, so why not give this great game a try?
Pros:
AMAZING soundtrack.
easy to play.
Cons:
I wasn't a huge fan of your artstyle.
An actual final boss. Maybe while you're pushing the guy along in space, an alien could be following you and shooting at you. It just left me with an empty and un-epic feeling. More
